DAY THREE (3) OF THE PROJECT-TOUR IN BAYELSA STATE


DAY THREE (3) OF GOV. DICKSON LED ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY:
 PRESS TOUR TO THE MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT LED BY THE HON. COMMISSIONER MRS MARIA EBIKAKE. 
Report on the Project Tour : The Social Media Perspective
According to the commissioner, her first achievement is that, she retrieved two hundred (200) vehicles from Onne that was dumped by the past administration, which was the very first assignment carried out the moment she stepped into office as commissioner for transport. the ministry was able to procure about 100 triawheel vehicle from china but 24 has been supplied, waiting for the rest 76 which according to the Hon. commissioner will arrive in the month of April 2013 and 200 Restoration cabs was also procured and these amounted 508 million naira.     




Also 34 buses were also procured and the cost is 434 million naira. the best the government has achieved in the transport sector which the past administration couldn’t do was the ban of Okada which drastically has reduced the rate of accident and stealing to a greater height. 




11 security vehicle was bought to the Operation Doo Akpo which amounted to 60million naira.
Three  (3) parking lot [garage] memo has been sent to the Governor that will contain about 100-200 vehicles, which includes a car wash, restaurant within the Bayelsa metropolis that amount to 300million naira and the government intends to achieve that in no distance time. a driving school complex is also built in the ministry of transport complex to teach the upcoming drivers and like the commissioner rightly said the first students will be free of charge and before 14th Feb. 2013 we are looking forward to commission the project, the cost for the building project amounted to 97million naira and its direct labour. there is also a tracking monitor for all the Restoration cabs so that people cannot do away with it like before when they use to change the colours of the cabs and utilized it for private use, not business as usual because this government is a corruption free government and transparent.  

Two (2) dredging company which amounted to 2.8million euro are working towards operating in Bayelsa State, arrangements has been done and the M.o.U’s has been duly signed according to the commissioner. the restoration buses also applied in the Niger delta University which happens to be the only State University in the Bayelsa State and also the Bayelsa State college of arts and science which has ease the stress of the students going to school, there is also free school buses running within Yenagoa metropolis and also civil servant buses for the civil servants in the State.




Five (5) Armoured vehicles for top government functionaries, Two (2) has been delivered while the three (3) will arrive soon.

Also 15 armoured Boats have also been ordered which amounted to the sum of 339 million naira. The government has also sent some indigenous youths to Poland because of the establishment of maritime Academy in Okpoma and the M.o.U has been signed. the Hon. commissioner also said that bus stops has not been built in the state due to the numerous road construction works going on in the state and the moment those works are done that will be achieved.
